James E. Walizer of OKC was called home by his Lord on December 24, 2017. "Jim" was born on September 27, 1926 in Pittsburg, KS to Ted and Mildred Walizer. He grew up in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Central High in January,1944. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1944-1947, in both European and Pacific Theatres. Jim attended the Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS where he met his bride-to-be, Mary Jean Periman. They were married June 30, 1950 and moved to Rolla, MO, where he graduated as a Chemical Engineer from the Missouri School of Mines.
His career of 31 years in the Oil business included working for Cities Service Oil Co., Sequoia Refining and Gulf Oil Corp. Jim served in several management positions and elected early retirement in April,1983 in Pittsburgh, PA from Gulf Research and Development. He and Mary Jean then moved to OKC to be near the kids and grandkids, where he found great joy in a close and loving family. He was interested in real estate and became a Broker-Associate with several agencies specializing in Property Management.
Jim was an active member of Village Baptist and Quail Springs Baptist Churches, serving in various positions, giving the Lord credit and thanks for His many blessings. He enjoyed serving others and worked as a volunteer at the Brit-Vil food pantry for 20 years and found time for golf with his church buddies and a group called "FOOLS." It was a time of fun and fellowship. Jim leaves behind a very proud family who benefits from his love, wisdom and character. He will be greatly missed, but his presence will continue in the lives he has touched so deeply.
Jim was married to Mary Jean Walizer for 66 years. Mary Jean passed away on January 13, 2017. He is survived by daughter, Jamie Hite and husband Jay; son, Jeff Walizer and wife Marita; grandchildren, Julie Davidson and husband Gary, John Michael Hite, Jennifer Jimerson, Jessica Kenedy and husband Evan, Sarah Walizer and Sean Walizer; great-grandchildren, Zion Davidson, Zane Davidson, Brayden Jimerson and Caydence Jimerson; sister, Karen Dahl; nephew Bryan Dahl; great-niece Kelsey Dahl and great-nephew Konnor Dahl.Graveside services will be 11am Friday, December 29 at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, with a memorial service at 3pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK.
