James Nolan (Jimmy) Quick, age 87, of Oklahoma City, OK was born March 19th, 1922 to Morris and Ozella McGiboney Quick and awoke in heaven on March 20th, 2009. He was born in El Paso, AR and later raised his family in Jonesboro, AR. He served our country in WWII as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He retired from his first career in 1985, as Regional Director of EXXON Corporation; a 38 year career that began and ended in Arkansas, but also took him and his family to Tullahoma, TN and Hunstville, AL. In 1991, he relocated to Oklahoma City and founded the Quick Mincey Companies, an innovative Real Estate Development company with several neighborhoods in Northwest Oklahoma City. He was very proud to serve on the Oklahoma City Bond Committee and as a Board Director for F&M Bank.
In addition to his successful business career, Jimmy Quick will always be remembered as a Giant in his community of faith. A life long lay member of the Church of the Nazarene, he lived to serveSunday School Superintendent, North Arkansas District Advisory Board, Local and District Church Boards and Committees, and humbly lending financial support and expertise as needed. Always quick with a joke or story, he was a people person. He was often asked to be a speaker and emcee for a wide variety of events in the church and community, was an active Gideon in Jonesboro, AK. and in every interaction, a strong, gentle man who lived his life with integrity, humor and unconditional love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mildred Craig and a brother Wayne Quick. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Gunter Quick, a son, J. Gary Nolan Quick, II and his finance Cassie Lyons, three daughters: Beverly Quick, Cynthia Quick Black and her husband Chris, and Patricia Quick Gray and her husband Mark, four grandchildren: J. Larry Sartin, II, Kristin Marie Galloway and her husband Beau, Cynthia LaNeale Robertson and her husband Chris, RianDei Hazel Quick, three grandchildren by marriage: Meredith, Hayden and Cooper Black, and two great-grandchildren: Holland Lane Robertson and Grayson James Galloway all of Oklahoma City, a brother, Nealon Quick of Decatur, TX, and two sisters: Sylvia Quick Smith and husband Richard of Denton, TX, and Bonnie Quick Works and husband Joe of Azle, TX, and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom loved him dearly! Many other very special people thought of Jimmy as a loving father figure, and were considered by him as extended family. This Godly man will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends and relatives from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Mercer Adams Funeral Home. A Celebration Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 23, 2009 at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Internment will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
