James Weldon Parker Sr., 84, passed away October 31, 2019 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Greenville, TX on November 10, 1934 to Buddy and Fama Jo Parker. He met and married Mary Patricia (Maripat) Day on RAF Schulthorpe Base (England). They were parents to five sons, James, Timothy, David, Matthew and Gregg, and one daughter, Margaret (Peggy).
Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1984. His duties took him to Texas, Georgia, Nevada, Oklahoma, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Spain. He loved flying and flew many planes over the years: L-188, F-100, F-105, F-4, T-33, DC-8, AT-33, U-16, H-19, H-43, T-39, C-47, C-124, DC-3 and KB-50. He retired as a Lt. Colonel. Jim worked as an airline and charter pilot and also owned Big Eds Hamburgers in Mustang, OK. He loved to travel and visited over 50 countries in his lifetime.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Patricia; sister, Anita; and son, David Andrew. He is survived by his children, James and his wife, Audra, Timothy, Matthew and his wife Natalie, Gregg and his husband, James, Peggy and her husband, Marty; grandchildren, Christopher, Brittany, Anthony, Michael, Megan, Courtney, Haley, Barrett, Ausette, Ivan, Delany, Noah, Madeline and Collin; great-grandchildren, Daigen, Parker, Ashlynn, Raelynn, Meara, Alana, Michael Jr., Madison, Chesney and Liam; sister, Martha Weil; and his second wife, Gai Thi Tran.
Funeral services will be at 10:00am Friday, November 8 at Christ the King Catholic Church with interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
