James Sylvester "Jim" Palovik, 82, a longtime resident of Bethany, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Alan; granddaughter, Brook Marie; and great-grandson, Ott Sylvester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Marie Palovik; siblings, John, Mary, Ann, Margretta, Ed and Patricia; and his great-grandson, Bambino Palovik.
Jim was born on March 13, 1940 in Stillwater, OK. He lived in Perry, then lived on an acreage along the Cimarron River near Coil where he enjoyed spending time alone playing on the river. He was the youngest of seven, with siblings much older than he was. He then moved to Yukon with his parents where he graduated from school. Jim married, bought land, and built his home at age 21 in Bethany. He started his career working in his uncles motor shop in Oklahoma City and went on to accumulate over sixty years experience working in the residential/commercial HVAC field. He owned and worked for various companies around the Oklahoma City metro area. Jim was a 25+ year member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union 344, extending his knowledge to many apprentices in the program. He was a master mechanic and a jack of all trades. His skills took him to several states and even traveling to different countries until retiring. Jim had a love for adventure, enjoyed the great outdoors, motorcycles, boats and airplanes. Jim enjoyed tinkering in his shop and building things with his tools and was willing to help most anyone build or fix anything. He enjoyed spending time with his close family and friends. Jim will be missed dearly.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 6th from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service.
