On February 2, 2020, James Alexander Nixon left this earth and was reunited with his beloved wife, Dorothy. Jim was born in Vancouver, Canada on October 13, 1938. In 1948, he and his family relocated to Palo Alto, CA. This is where his love for Stanford University and the San Francisco 49ers began. In 1955, at the age of 16, he took the oath of citizenship.
Jim graduated college from the College of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. In 1962, he joined the United State Air Force, where he served in Vietnam and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He later left the military and went to work at the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City. He returned to the military he loved by serving in the Air National Guard.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dorothy Danica Nixon and his parents, Harvey and Ellen Nixon. He is survived by his sister, Fran Groat of Milpitas, CA; his daughters, Leigh and husband Bill Sellers of Hamlin, TX, Lynne and husband David Jones of Broken Arrow, OK; and his son, Scott Nixon of Prague, Czech Republic. He will be sorely missed by his numerous grandchildren whom he treasured.
Please come and celebrate his life, legacy and his love of this country on Saturday February 8, 2020 at 2pm at the Mercer-Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate in Jims name to Wounded Warriors.
