Obituary

James Donald McDonald of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was born on October 3, 1940 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Lola Faye (Stephens) and Perry Tillman McDonald. He was raised in Cement, Oklahoma with his siblings, Warren and Nancy. Friends and family in Cement knew him as Donald, as his mother felt that rang out across the field better than James. Upon graduating Cement High School, he became a member of the Armed Forces and served in the United States Air Force with great pride. Once honorably discharged, he settled in Oklahoma City and made a career in Information Technology as a computer programmer and system analyst, retiring from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in 2008. He was known to his friends and collegues in Oklahoma City as Jim. Jim spent his free time with his group of Harley Davidson enthusiasts who enjoyed Thursday night rides, yearly trips to Colorado, fish runs, and working on their cycles. He always spoke fondly of his group who include Kicker, Rapid, Poky, Whiskyman, Mushy, Knot, Crash, Wamba, Sureman, Scroggs, Larry, and Kevin. His hobby in later years turned from Harleys to his 1930 Model A. Jim joined the Sooner Model A Club where he made many friends for whom he deeply cared. They met every Monday, enjoyed regular breakfast meetings, and shared their cars in many parades and festivals with the citizens of Oklahoma. He rarely missed a meeting. Jim was also a life long enthusiast of aeronautics, the space programs of NASA, and outdoor activities. His dry sense of humor and quick wit was his most admired trait, along with his pride in his familys achievements. Jim passed from long standing heart disease at Baptist Hospital December 5, 2016 in Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his brother, Warren McDonald and will be sorely missed by his surviving family and many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren including: Spouse, Sue McDonald of Chicago, Illinois; Sister, Nancy Hargus of Duncan, Oklahoma; Daughter, Dianna McDonald and her children, baby Judy, Crystal Chambers, and James Boltz of Colorado; Son, Jimmy McDonald and his wife, Yvette and children, Stephani, Jamee, Christopher, and Michal McDonald of Asher, Oklahoma; Daughter, Brandi McDonald-Juarez and her husband, Pedro Juarez and their daughter, Sophia Juarez-McDonald of Yukon, Oklahoma; Son, Steve McDonald and his children, Tyler and Matt McDonald of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
