Obituary

James Albert McCollough, Jr., affectionately known to all his friends and family as "Jim" or "Jimmy," was born to parents, James McCollough, Sr. and Beverly McCollough, on October 10, 1952. Raised much of his childhood by a single mother, Jim moved a lot through his elementary and junior high years, finally settling in Bethany for high school. Bethany quickly became home, and he loved the lifelong friends he made in his Class of 1970. He met the love of his life, Cindy Fisher, at Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene, and it didn't take long for him to know she was the one. They were married June 24, 1978, and from that marriage came 3 children and 10 grandchildren.

Jim loved his sports, especially baseball, and played as often and as long as his body would allow. Jim and Cindy lived a full life together in the Oklahoma City area, returning to Bethany First Church of the Nazarene as active members over the past several years. Jim fought a terminal condition for over 12 years, and maintained a positive spirit up to the moment his Lord and Savior called him to his Heavenly home on October 27, 2023.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Sr.; his mother, Beverly Carr and step-father Walter Carr; as well as brother, Rodney McCollough; and a few cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Cindy; daughter, Christina Burch (Jordan) and grandchildren, Jasper and Clyde Burch; son, Michael McCollough (Jessica) and grandchildren, Nate, Haleigh, Remi and Livi McCollough; son, Tony McCollough (Allison) and grandchildren, Cayden, Tanner, Liam and Cohen McCollough. He is also survived by brothers, Robert McCollough and Larry Carr; and sisters, Rebekah Regnier, Rachel McCollough Price, and Tina Carr Cox. He also leaves behind several cousins and all those friends he called his family.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed on this obituary page.
