James Lackey, 85, passed away on February 27, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was married to Betty Lackey for 54 years. James served in the US Army and retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a civilian employed aviation electronics supervisor servicing the E-3 AWACS.

James loved his family and attending family events. He loved watching sports with his wife and they especially enjoyed watching Thunder games together.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur R. and Lousie Lackey.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Michael and his wife, Jessica Lackey; grandson, Aaron Lackey; sister, Patricia O'Connor; and multiple nieces and nephews.

In lieu of a traditional funeral service, we will be honoring and celebrating his life on April 4, 2026, 12:30pm, at Melrose on May Event Center (11205 N. May Avenue, Suite B, Oklahoma City, OK 73120). Food and beverages will be provided.

James loved good food with family. Please show up hungry so he can enjoy one more meal together with friends and family.
