James N. Posey was born on June 11, 1934, in Wellington, Texas, and entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on June 29, 2024.

Jim, as he was known to his friends and colleagues, came to Bethany, Oklahoma to attend (then) Bethany Nazarene College where he graduated in 1955. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate in 1957 from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. On August 1, 1957, Jim opened his law office in Bethany, Oklahoma where he faithfully served Jesus Christ and his clients for an amazing 67 years.

Jim loved the practice of law and had a brilliant legal mind. To better serve his clients, he limited his practice to estate planning, trust administration, probates, real estate law, and forming and servicing small business entities. He was one of the pioneers in the Oklahoma City area to utilize the revocable living trust. On June 21, 2021, Jim formed a Professional Association with attorney Shelly A. Perkins, where she plans to have a long career serving their clients and continuing the example set by Mr. Posey.

In addition to practicing law, Jim served his community in various capacities including President of the Southern Nazarene University Alumni Association, the Bethany Kiwanis Club, member of the Executive Committee of the Governing Board of Deaconess Hospital, member of the Board of Directors of Lamb's Theater in New York City, and a faithful member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.

Jim was a loyal friend and devoted husband. He lovingly cared for his first wife, Shirley, who passed away after an extended illness and 55 years of marriage. He married Donetta Brown in 2012 and was blessed to be a part of her extended family surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He lovingly cared for Donetta until she preceded him in death earlier this year. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Robert Newton Posey and Gladys Alleen Posey, and his only sister, Roberta Long. He is survived by a host of friends, clients, colleagues and "adopted" family members on whom his wisdom, love, and impact cannot be measured and will be greatly missed.
