James Walter Howe, 71, died Feb. 27, 2011. He was born April 6, 1939 to Fred and Evelyn Howe in Manhattan, KS. He attended Manhattan schools, graduating class of 1957 where he was president of his senior class. He grew up on a farm in Eureka Valley, and was active in 4-H and sports. He graduated from KSU, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He served as City Planner in Wichita, Manager for McCalls Pattern Plant, Manhattan, KS, and held various sales positions, including car sales which he loved. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe, his parents, and one infant grandchild. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Skaggs; son, David Howe, Kansas City, MO; daughters, Nancy Sachdeva, Olathe, KS, Janine Holden and Jennifer Simpson, both of OKC; 4 grandchildren; brother, Jon Howe and wife Roxana, Manhattan, KS; and sister Jean Dick and husband Wally, Broken Arrow, OK. Memorial services will be Thursday, March 3, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
