James Ira Harmon was born May 19, 1923 in Lake Charles, LA and entered his eternal home on April 16, 2020 from his residence at Homestead A.L. in Bethany, Oklahoma.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva Ruth Harmon in 1980 and his second wife, Lavonne Snyder Harmon in 2009. He is survived by his sons, Sanford "Sandy" Lynn Harmon and James "Bob" Robert Harmon and wife Roseann; stepchildren, Katie Kimbro and husband John, and Darel Snyder and wife Patty. Extended family includes 13 grandchildren and their spouses and great-grandchildren numbering 32.
Jim served in the Army from 1943 to 1946. He received a Business Degree from Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater.
Jim was committed to the Lord and actively served in many capacities in the Nazarene church homes he attended over his lifetime. Oklahoma City First Church of the Nazarene was his church home for the past 29 years. He was especially engaged in service as a welcoming greeter to all who entered the church.
A family graveside service will be held at Memorial Park in Oklahoma City on Monday, April 20, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to OKC 1st Church of the Nazarene Hospitality Fund.
