Obituary

James Ferguson Bentley entered this earthly life on July 1, 1927 and went to be with Christ, his Savior, on March 3, 2013 at the age of 85. Born the fourth child of eleven to Ora Lawrence Bentley and William Paul Bentley in Ivanhoe, Texas, James was drafted into the United States Army in 1945 and honorably discharged in 1947 as a corporal. He was very proud of his military service. James lived in California for many years where he worked as a concrete contractor. He married Bobbie Nell Drake on May 24, 1950. His children are: James, Carolyn, Parmela, Robert and Shonna. After the unexpected loss of Bobbie in 2001, James traveled, visiting family and friends, where he discovered Marie Holloway Bentley, a friend from his youth, who had also recently lost her spouse. James and Marie renewed their friendship and on June 1, 2002 were married in Bethany, Oklahoma. They enjoyed ten years together. They traveled to Mexico, Hawaii, Oregon and California to visit family, took trips with their church, and spent time with their combined families. James was a quiet, kind man with a large smile and a generous heart. He gave to many charitable organizations. He was a member of the Council Road Baptist Church and greatly enjoyed his Sunday School Class. James leaves behind a loving family that includes his wife, Marie; his 5 children; 4 stepchildren; 33 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
