Obituary

James Baker Gervais passed away on December 28, 2010 after a short illness. He was born on November 22, 1922 in Christopher, Illinois to Edmund and Evelyn Gervais. His schooling was in Chicago, IL. He participated in all sports, especially baseball and football. A proud WWII veteran, he enlisted Dec. 9, 1942 and was TSgt of the 409th Infantry. He was captured in Dec. 44. He was in 3 German POW camps for approximately 6 months. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Maurice and Arnold Gervais. He married Anna M. Armstrong in 1947. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in June. Daughter Jo Ann Gervais and son James (Jim) Gervais had wonderful role models with both their parents. There is one grandson, Justin Gervais, great-granddaughters Maya and Shayla of Prairie Grove, AR. He was retired from Los Angeles County as a roofer. After retiring, they moved to Noel, MO, then Springdale, AR and on to OKC in 2009. Four households moved into one in Bethany. Dad loved his family. Jim, Lynda, Jo Ann, Mom and Mary Pfeil loved being together. Daily he took his chocolate lab Sundae to the park. He was always ready to help, especially with food. After being a POW he didnt want anyone to be hungry. He has left us hundreds of memories and stories. Celebrations of his life are on your own terms, however, interment will be on Monday, June 13, 2:00 pm at the National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.
