Obituary

Jackie S. Carter-Morrison, 87, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones March 15, 2024 in Meeker, but was a long-term resident of Bethany, OK. She was born to Carl and Ruby Couteau in Ada, OK on September 10, 1936. She was sister to Orville and Don Couteau, Carletta Henthorn, Carlena Hagler, Shirley Whittington, Barbara Reeves, and Mable Walton. Jackie grew up in the Shawnee, OK area, met and married a handsome airman named Charles R. Carter on April 9, 1954 and after celebrating 50 years of a fruitful loving marriage, she was sadly widowed. She reunited and married a mutual old friend/neighbor/serviceman named Lowell (Tim) Morrison and they spent six happy years together until he passed.

Jackie loved to cook and tend to her flower garden, but her focus was Jesus and her beloved church family at Gospel Tabernacle which she attended for over 60 years faithfully was her priority. She was a loving mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jackie retired in 2004 as a Secretary for the OK State Department of Rehabilitative Services. Additionally, she was an enrolled elder tribal member of the Sac and Fox Nation.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Charles Carter; second husband, Tim Morrison; brothers, Orville and Don; sister, Carlena; son, Derek; daughter, Carla Gayle Parker; grandson, Jason Scott Parker; and great-grandson, Carter Blaze Alleman.

She is survived by her four sisters, Carletta, Shirley and husband Harold, Barbara, and Mable and husband Larry; son, Charles R. Carter, Jr. and wife Dewieta; grandson, Karl and wife Carrie; great-grandchildren, Conner and Karlie; and great-great-granddaughter, Emery Rose Carter; granddaughter, Amanda and husband Henry Ndezue; great-grandsons, Alex and Elijah; and great-granddaughter, Adriana Carrera; daughter, Dianna Sue McCaulla; granddaughter, Melodee and husband Troy Shepherd; great-granddaughter, Taylor Smith; great-grandson, Nate and wife Elisa; great-great-grandsons, Bentley, Kash, and one on the way Smith; and great-grandson, Lane Williams; grandson, Joshua and wife Angel Alleman; great-granddaughters, Emma and Shelby McCaulla, and Pyper Alleman; granddaughter, Kristen and husband Vince; great-grandsons Zach and Cody; and great-granddaughter, Rhiley Crow; granddaughter, Jillian Paige Parker; great-grandson, Jeremy Spivey, Jr., and great-granddaughters, Bristi and Riley Parker; daughter, Sandra and husband Lee; granddaughter, Hanna; and grandson, Brandon Blalack; and a multitude of extended loving nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.

Special thanks and recognition is extended to Heartland Hospice, and Jackie's bonus daughter, Melodee Ann and Troy Shepherd for offering her dignity in life and a final peaceful death in their Meeker home.

Viewing will be Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22 from 10am to 8pm with family present on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 23 at Gospel Tabernacle, 9115 NE 36th Street, Spencer, OK with interment at 2:30pm in Bethany Cemetery.
