Jack Wallace Marshall, born November 7, 1940, in Shawnee, OK to Geneva Wallis Marshall and Charles Vivian Marshall, departed this earth on January 30, 2019, after a courageous battle with ALS. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1958, attended OSU, and served in the 45th Division Army Reserves for over 6 years.
Jack worked for General Electric, which eventually became Seagate, traveling worldwide. He retired after 37 years. After a brief respite, he went to work for the Oklahoma Blood Institute for 13 years. Jack was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Prior to joining New Hope, he was a long-time member of Council Road Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Department Secretary for 15 years.
As a young man, Jack was active in FFA, baseball, and waterskiing. An avid sports fan, he cheered on the Sooners, Thunder, Dallas Cowboys, and the Yankees. He enjoyed nature whether from a hiking trail or the view from his kitchen window.
Jack was a loyal, generous, and true-hearted father and friend. You could catch his wonderful sense of humor in the twinkle of his blue eyes and his sideways smile.
An adventurous traveler, he visited all 50 states, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Far East. He planned numerous vacations, driving several thousands of miles across country with his family.
Although a man of few words, Jack left important life lessons for those who knew him. Never one to complain, his determination and positive attitude enabled him to enjoy each days simple pleasures as he fought his disease - he did so with much courage.
Survivors are his wife of 51 years, LaDonna; daughter, Melissa Savoy and her husband Ben; and son, Zack; as well as many dear family members and friends who prayed tirelessly for him. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Sandra Frost.
