Jack Dempsey Jenkins, 81, passed peacefully on March 25, 2022 at his home in Oklahoma City surrounded by his loved ones. He was born February 18, 1941 in Boswell, Oklahoma, the son of Fred and Roxie Jenkins. Jack married Sharon Kay Duncan on April 3, 1965 in Oklahoma City. He made a profession of faith and was baptized on March 13, 1977.
Jack started working in downtown Oklahoma City as a barber and hairstylist in 1964. His shop occupied the Leonhardt building and later the First National Bank building. Jack loved to play poker and would play double or nothing for a haircut. His profession afforded him many valued friendships over the years.
Jack was a mans man. He loved to fish and was an excellent gardener and yard man. He kept up the house maintenance and if he couldnt do it, he would call David Randell, his go-to man.
Jack was preceded in death by his son, Jack Darryl Jenkins; mother, Roxie Streeter; father, Fred Hunter Jenkins (the bootlegger); stepdad, Charles Streeter; brothers, Raymond and Jessie Jenkins; and sisters, Jeannie Markarin and Shirley Wolf.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon Jenkins; son, Chad Jenkins and wife Morgan; sister, Patsy Pemberton, brothers, R.F. Jenkins, and Fred Wayne Jenkins; grandchildren, Hunter Dempsey Jenkins, Haileigh Kaye Jenkins, Addison Gale Jenkins, and Kamryn Nicole Jenkins; and many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and acquaintances.
Memorial services will be held Monday, April 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany, OK.
