Obituary

Dr. Jack David Armold, 90 years old, entered the Celestial City on January 16, 2019 from Yukon, OK. He was born to Charles Christian Armold, Sr. (3/10/1895 to 7/1964) and Mittie Estella Cone Armold (2/12/1902 to 9/3/1991) in Oklahoma City on September 16, 1928. Dr. Armold received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1959 from the University of Illinois, Urbana in Rhetoric and Public Address; Master of Arts degree in 1952 from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.; Bachelor of Arts from Bethany-Peniel College, Bethany, OK. In 1974, Dr. Armold received his Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Known and loved as a Professor in several different Universities, he later retired from DeVry Institute in Irving, TX. At 15, Jack David Armold accepted Christ as His Savior in his church at 12th and May Avenue in Oklahoma City. He has been a youth minister, a deacon and a pastor of several churches. After moving back to Yukon, OK in early 2000s, he started the YANA (You Are Never Alone) AA group. Always praising God and giving Him credit, he celebrated his 35th year of sobriety May 15, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, William Lamar Armold (9/25/1922 to 5/28/1984) and Charles Christian Armold, Jr. (11/22/1923); sisters-in-law, Geneva Lee Ballinger Armold (8/5/1922 to 10/20/2010) and Billie Jo Meek Armold (10/4/1924); and his nephews, Jimmie David Armold (3/31/1944 to 9/14/1994) and Charles Andrew Armold (9/6/1954 to 6/5/2018). Left to cherish him are his niece, Sharon Charlene Armold Petitt and husband Sidney Eugene Petitt of Del Rio, TX; nephew, Darren Lamar Armold and wife Stacy Valdez Armold of Tuttle, OK, along with several cousins, grand-nieces and nephews, numerous friends and colleagues and his beloved poodle, Beaux Jacques Emmael. Viewing will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany, OK. Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lukes United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City with interment in Mustang Cemetery, Mustang, OK. His love of family, friends, learning, teaching and his Lord Jesus Christ is his legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jack David Armold Scholarship Fund at Southern Nazarene University.
