J Refugio Perez Acevedo passed away on June 12, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on July 29, 1963 to Jesus Maria Perez and Rosa Acevedo Perez in Tlacuitapa, Jalisco, Mexico. He was a dedicated carpenter at OU Health for more than 2 decades.

He was a man of many names: Nene, Cat, JR, el Gato, Cuco and several more that he wore as alter egos when he had fun with those around him. As many of you know, he was known to make you smile, laugh or even make you slap him on the shoulder from telling one of his classic jokes. He was a joy to be around and made you feel special every time you talked to him.

He was a skilled carpenter and worked for many years building what is now OU Medical Center. He dedicated many years to a family that really became part of his own. He truly cared for so many of his colleagues and friends at the hospital.

He was a complex man, loving those things that made him a Tapatio: mariachi, tequila, and much more, and being a loving and caring father and grandfather.

He was proud of his daughter, Amanda Perez and his grandchildren, Bianca Luna Perez and Sergio Perez.

He is survived by his daughter Amanda Perez, grandchildren: Bianca Luna Perez and Sergio Adan Perez, and his siblings: Yolanda Hernandez, Romelio Perez, Socorro Perez, Hilda Perez Belmonte, Rosendo Perez, Hugo Perez, Celina Perez, his godchildren: Santiago Belmonte, his nephews and nieces, son-in-law, Sergio Perez and his dogs, Fabio and Flaca.

Viewing will be Tuesday, June 18 from 6-8PM at Mercer Adams Funeral Service. Mass and burial will be at 9AM and 11AM, respectively at St. Joseph's Old Cathedral and Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
