Obituary

Julius Clifton Pierce, known since childhood as JC, was born March 3, 1928 to Clifton and Verna Inez Pierce in Fountain Hill, AR. He went to school in Fountain Hill and Crossett, AR and graduated from Central High School in Little Rock, AR in 1946. JC joined the Marines in 1946 and served stateside until honorable discharge in 1947. He returned home to Little Rock and attended Little Rock Jr. College, also joining the Marine Reserves. When the Korean War broke out, his unit was activated and sent to Korea as part of the Inchon Landing. JC was again honorably discharged in September, 1952. He secured a position with National Cash Register in Little Rock and remained with them until his retirement in 1990. This job took him to Fort Worth, TX, for a few years and then to Oklahoma City. JC was married to Margaret Howell of Little Rock and had two daughters from that union, Deborah Ann and Dana Kay. He married Elaine Bohannon in Oklahoma City in 1992. JC was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, where he served in various positions including teacher, bus driver, deacon, and member of committees. JC enjoyed fishing in his early years, and his delight was to take his mother fishing when she would come to Oklahoma City to visit. Later, with Elaine, he enjoyed traveling with the Putnam City Retired Teachers Travel Club. After retiring from NCR, JC invested in rental properties and was handy in renovating and maintaining them. Alzheimers Disease came calling in 2005, but he maintained a normal life with Elaine taking care of him for many years. He had been under the excellent care of Oklahoma Hospice for several years. JC was placed in the memory care unit of Southern Plaza in Bethany in late 2019. Elaine would like to thank Oklahoma Hospice and Southern Plaza for the caring support and attention given to him. JC leaves behind his wife, Elaine of 28 years; his daughter, Deborah Ann and husband Mike Gately of Tulsa; 2 grandsons, Michael Gately and Matthew (Trisha) Gately; and three great-grandchildren of Austin, TX; daughter, Dana Kay and husband Dr. Brent Brown of Edmond; grandson, Jason Brown; granddaughter, Kristin (Daniel) Best and 2 great-grandsons; granddaughter, Melissa (Myles) Koertje and 2 great-grandsons of Edmond.
