The world lost a gentle giant when Bill Parker passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 9, 2023. Hugh William Parker was born on July 11, 1940 to William and Louise Parker. Bill graduated from Hutchinson High in 1958 and attended Kansas State University. Bill proudly served 4 years in the US Navy and was a proud Patriot and Veteran. He met Suzanne Watts in 1978 and they began a 3-year courtship that turned into a beautiful 43-year marriage this October 10. This union blended Suzannes 3 sons and Bills 2 sons.
Bill was a successful lumber sales rep for over 35 years. He retired in 1999. Bills happiest times were traveling with Suzanne in their motorhome or on the water in their cabin cruiser, "The Delta Queen." Bill was a cancer survivor, in remission for 8 years. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother and friend to all. He never met a stranger.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Fred and Jean Dillow; sister-in-law, Guinevere Dillow; son, Michael Watts and granddaughter, Madison Watts.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne; their sons, Mark (Jennifer) Watts, Darren Watts and Claire Springer, Brian (Rebekah) Parker, and Brad (Paige) Parker; daughter-in-law, Jenny Watts; brother, Robert (Gail) Parker; sister, Sharon (Keith) Bundy; nieces, Lisa Parker and Lori (Joe) Arves; 7 grandchildren, Megan, Ashley (Derek), Zachary (Kaylynn), Brandon (Lita), Emily, Vivian and Warren; and 5 great-grandchildren, Addison, Lilly, Shelby, Birdie and Lennon.
Viewing is Thursday, August 17, 9am-8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service with family present from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Friday, August 18 at Western Oaks Christian Church, 8100 NW 23, OKC. Because of Bills love for his Oklahoma Sooners, please wear red and white if you wish.
"In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." Our gentle giant took a truckload.
