Aug. 9, 1936 to May 8, 2015. Bethany. Howard A. Manwarren, 78, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015. He was born on Aug. 9, 1936 in Holyrood, Kansas. Howard spent most of his childhood helping his parents, Myrtle and H.A. Manwarren, on their farm in Lyons, Kansas. After graduating from high school, Howard attended Bethany Nazarene College, now known as Southern Nazarene University. There, he met the love of his life, Ramona Campbell. After a short courtship, they married on May 25, 1956. Howard and Ramona spent the next almost 59 years building a beautiful life together, supporting each other, loving each other, and faced the world together. Howard started working in the home building business shortly after being married. Through his grit and hard work, he became the owner and president of Leonhardt Enterprises and Manco Homes. He was a lifetime member of the National Association of Home Builders and the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association. He was named Builder of the Year in 1978 and was the 1978 president of Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association. Howard built about 5,000 homes, 15 land developments and six apartment complexes in his career since 1964. Howard also supported the Chambers of Commerce in every city his companies built in. Howard loved spring, was an avid gardener and was a perfectionist when it came to his lawn. He loved to spend time with his family and doted on his four granddaughters, who all affectionately called him Papa. His granddaughters adore their Papa and will miss him deeply as they continue to grow up into their adult lives. There will be no one else quite like Howard/Papa. Howard is survived by his wife, Ramona; daughter, Candi and husband Dennis Smith; son, Howard Lee and wife Kyong Hwa; his granddaughters, Leigh Anne and Michelle Manwarren, and Haylee and Kamee Smith; his great nephew, Mark and wife Jill Worden; and sister, Liz Meairs; and nephew, Scott Meairs. His second family was his work family; Sara Higgins, Cecelia Williamson, Bill Behrens, Darrell Titus, Buster Elliott and Julie Stephens. His family would like to thank his loving nurse and friend Jamie Montgomery.
