Obituary

Herbert Marion Leonard, Jr. (Herb) passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026. Herb was born April 8, 1930, in Carnegie, OK to Herbert Marion Leonard Sr. and Lova Leonard. He married Patricia Ann Brown on June 18, 1955, and together they raised two sets of twins. They were married for 55 years.

Herb was involved in the trucking business, starting with working for his dad's company, Big 4 Trucking, at a young age. He drove a truck after Big 4 closed. He was drafted into the Army in 1951 and spent two years in Germany. After the Army he worked for several trucking companies before he bought J&M Cartage from his uncle. He successfully operated J&M Cartage for 25 years.

After retirement, Herb began woodworking as a hobby and was remembered in the neighborhood as "Mr. Fix It." He loved to take trips driving around Oklahoma to take in the countryside and locating relatives in cemeteries.

Herb was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, in 2010; his parents; and granddaughter, Katie Stevens. He is survived by a sister, Barbara Mac Swain of Fort Worth, TX; son, Jerry Leonard and wife Tonnie of Oklahoma City; daughter, Sherry Forester and husband John of Oklahoma City; daughter, Linda Suter and husband Gary of Shawnee, KS; and son, David Leonard of Las Vegas, NV; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

The family would like to express their many thanks to all the staff at Caring Hearts Hospice in caring for dad. Also, we can't thank the staff enough at The Stonehaven for the excellent care and kindness during Dad's stay there.

Dad had a great long life, loved his family and was very much-loved in return. Until we meet again.
