Helen L. Holland, 93, precious Mother and Beloved Nan, passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on March 26, 2013 in Oklahoma City. She was born March 17, 1920 to Virgil and Pearl (Weatherford) Holland in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma. In 1942, Helen married the love of her life, John D. Holland. As a young girl, she was very involved with the 4H Club and received many honors. She loved picking peaches to make cobblers, gardening, traveling and was an avid Thunder fan. She worked at the State Capitol as a legal secretary for many years and also worked at the Children's Hospital until retirement in 1985. Even though she retired, she never stopped working. Helen worked for the election board and continued working the voting booths until she fell ill in March 2013. The most cherished things in her life were God, spending time with family and her dear church friends. She was the foundation of her family as seen by her unconditional and unwavering love for them. A testimony to this was written on a plaque given to Helen by her church. It read, "Those who have crossed paths with you have recognized you as being very special. Your patience has grown as talked about in James 1:3-4 becoming strong in character, full and complete. Your courage, strength and faith are never-ending. You are truly a servant to all." She is adored by son, Terry Holland and wife Pat; daughter, Janie Gary and husband Billy; daughter-in-law, Sharon Holland; grandchildren, Ben Gary and wife Carrie, Jeremy Gary and wife Jamie, Heidi Gary, Cathy Starr and husband Mario, Mike Holland and wife Jill, Nick Holland and wife Molly, Johnny Holland and wife Carrie, Bobby Holland, Tracie Edge and husband Mike and Stacie Love and husband Greg; and 22 greats. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968 and son, Gary Holland in 2009. We are praising God that she is in her heavenly home but she will be greatly missed.
