Helen Lucille Greer was 95 years old when she passed away peacefully in her home on December 15, 2010. She was born on September 11, 1915 in Maysville, Oklahoma to Houston and Margaret Knox. She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Custer and Harold Greer; daughter, Mary Helen Larkey; son, Ronnie Custer; stepson, Pat Greer; and brother and sister, Houston and Lillian Knox. She is survived by sister, Virginia Dunn; daughter, Margaret Hinkle; grandchildren, Rena Challis and 3 sons, Carla Hinkle and 1 son, Taffryn Vann and 2 children, Todd Custer, Steven Larkey and 3 children, Jerry Larkey and 2 children, Amy Brack and 4 children, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was a homemaker until the death of her first husband when she opened an in-home daycare. She loved it and her business grew so large she had to move to a larger building. After approx. 25 years, she changed her vocation to begin a drapery business. She made custom drapes and home furnishings for homes and businesses throughout the United States. Her business thrived by word of mouth for 48 years. She was well loved and respected in her community. Her giving nature was her strong faith in God and His strength was her rock. God gave her a cheerful and gentle nature and a loving and compassionate heart. She attended First United Methodist Church for many years. She joined a group of women in a sewing club for relaxation and comradery. She was deeply respected and will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, December 20 at 11:00am.
