Helen Marie Bates, 95, went to her heavenly home on January 23, 2014 in Oklahoma City. She was born on June 16, 1918, to Buck and Pearl (Nail) Nabours in Montague Co, TX, and attended high school in Ropesville, TX. She married Vaughn Bates in 1936. They lived in Lubbock for 48 years where they attended Lubbock First Nazarene Church. She has lived in Oklahoma City for the past 13 years. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one granddaughter, Terri Ferguson. She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Plott of Frisco, Tx, Gloria Ferguson and husband Weldon of OKC; brother, Jay Nabours of El Paso, TX; her 4 grandchildren, Curtis Ferguson (Emily), Greg Ferguson (Kim), Todd Plott, Dana Crawford (Chris); 7 great-grandchildren, Chace Crawford, Candice Romo, Chandler, Kayla and Bella Ferguson, Elizabeth Widmer, Austin Plott; and 1 great-great grandchild, Hawkins Romo. "Ma", as her grandkids called her, was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 26, 1:00pm, at Mercer Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK.
