Harvey Norris, 82, of Bethany, OK, died Thursday, December 18, 2014. He was born to the late Howard and Alice Belle Bourland Norris in Oklahoma City. Harvey graduated from Northeast High School in 1951. He was drafted into the Navy out of high school. He married Rita Ashworth Norris on November 18, 1952, recently celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary. He was an active member of Western Oaks Christian Church. Harvey was proud of his Indian heritage and was a member of the Chickasaw Nation. In 1957, he received his BA degree in Geology from the University of Oklahoma. He was a lifelong fan of the Sooners, and a proud season ticket holder for 50 plus years. He later became an OKC Thunder fan. Harvey was a geologist for the State Dept. for four years after graduating. Then, he went to work for Miller-Norris Co., Inc., a company his father started, and worked as a salesman until retirement. Harvey loved athletics and coached many of his son's teams. He was actively involved in the Tri-City athletic organization. He later became an avid follower of his grandchildren's events. Harvey is survived by his wife, Rita Norris; brothers, Glenn Norris (Joann), Ethan Norris (Marianne); three children, Jeff Norris (Lizzette), Ty Norris (Keri), Kellie Biggers (Mike); six grandchildren, Robert Norris, Kathy Norris, Bailey Norris, Coleman Prince, Foster Biggers (Ashley), Cooper Biggers (Maddie Berge); and 1 great-granddaughter, Gabby Norris. Alzheimer's disease had stolen away, bit by bit, his remarkable intellect, but he battled this illness with courage. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to our wonderful mother as his devoted caregiver. 2 Corinthians 4:18, "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." Honorary Pallbearer's are Charlie Conner, Mark Watts, Robert Norris, Coleman Prince, Foster Biggers and Cooper Biggers. Celebration services will be 10:00am, Monday, December 22, 2014 at Western Oaks Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice.
