Harry E. Kelly, born in Oklahoma City, July 24, 1929 to George D. and Beatrice (Albee) Kelly, died March 30, 2010. Harry attended Westwood Elementary, Jackson Jr. High and Central High School graduating in 1949. Harry was a lifetime member of the Central High School Alumni Association. Harry worked for Wilson & Co. during high school days and after graduating. In June, 1950, Harry and his friend Cliff Morgan joined the Marine Corps and were immediately shipped to San Diego, CA for boot camp. After boot camp he returned back to OKC on leave. During that leave he met the love of his life, Laveda Berryhill, his wife of 59 years. He was then sent to Camp Lejeune, NC for Disbursing School, completing this school Dec. 19, 1950. He took a 4 week leave in OKC before he was to report back to Santa Ana, CA. During that leave, he proposed to Laveda and they were married on Jan. 13, 1951. The next few months Laveda received her high school diploma and then joined Harry in CA. Their lives were blessed with 3 children: Deborah (Debbie) Leemon, Belinda (Linda) Good and Brad E. Kelly. Harry was stationed at El Tora LTA Base for 3 years. He served with the Third Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force in Japan, during the Korean War. Harry was honorably discharged on June 29, 1955 and went back to work for Wilson & Co., OKC plant where he worked until the company transferred him to Omaha, NE. There he and his family lived for 10 years, until Wilson Certified Foods moved back to OKC. Harry worked for Wilson Certified until he joined Laveda in the Real Estate Business in 1972. He was a Realtor Broker in the OKC metro area and retired after 23 years. Harry went home to his heavenly father after a long battle with health issues He is finally at peace and pain free. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Laveda; children Deborah Marie Leemon of OKC, Belinda Carol Good and husband Charles B. of OKC, Brad E. Kelly and wife Mary of Dallas, TX; 5 grandchildren, Kellie M. Patterson and husband Oren of OKC, Christina C. Hayes and husband Christopher of OKC, Christopher M. Leemon of Davis, CA, Nathan S. Kelly and Meagan E. Kelly of Dallas, TX; 3 great-grandchildren, Jacob C. Hayes, Mallory E. Hayes and Kathryn M. Patterson, all of OKC; many precious family members and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his baby sister Gertrude, mother Beatrice Albee Kelly; father George D. Kelly, Sr., stepmother Marie Schneider Kelly, and his brother George D. Kelly, Jr. Harry was a longtime member of Putnam City Baptist Church. The family thanks all their family and friends for their cards, letters, thoughts and prayers through these difficult times. Services will be Friday, April 2, 9:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel. This fund is managed by the Oklahoma City Foundation to award scholarships to underprivileged, but deserving high school graduates. A private interment will be at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK.
