Harold Hamlin Harris was born August 26, 1941 in Shelbyville, IL to Harold and Aloha Esther (Hamlin) Harris and entered his heavenly home July 8, 2022.
Harold was a teacher and principal in Putnam City Schools at Western Oaks Middle School. He enjoyed reading and was obsessed with collecting tools. Harold was a dedicated member of AA. He was a member of Lake Overholser Church of the Nazarene.
Harold studied and taught science, but he was a self-taught authority on the history of WWI and WWII simply because he had an insatiable interest in that time period.
Harold was an avid NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was Brad Keselowski.
Harold had no training in music, but he had a lifelong love of musical theater. He attended many concerts of Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Canterbury Voices. His favorite was Brightmusic, Oklahoma Citys amazing chamber music group. At church, he enthusiastically sang whatever style of worship music was offered, without partiality or criticism.
He never missed a program, a sporting event, or any kind of event that involved the grandchildren. They loved their "Pops"!
Harold was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons, Michael Harris and Matthew Harris; stepsons, Eric Peyton and Darin Peyton; sister, Aloha Lynn Spencer and husband Larry; and brother, John Harris and wife Dolly; grandchildren, Sage Peyton, Rain Peyton, Hayden Harris and Angela Stow; nieces; nephews; and many beloved friends.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Lake Overholser Church of the Nazarene.
