Gwendolyn Gayle Cochran, 82, passed away on May 28, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born February 10, 1943 to Cecil "Spud" and Vera Hawkins in Elk City, Oklahoma. She married Wendell F. Cochran on February 25, 1962 in Higgins, TX. Gwen retired from Deaconess Hospital in 1998 after nearly 20 years as a unit secretary.
Gwen was a people person who never met a stranger. She enjoyed bragging about her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to anybody who would listen. She had a love of traveling and was always pestering Wendell to take her on a trip somewhere. They especially enjoyed traveling the US in their RV with the camping clubs they were members of. Wendell got a 2-week head start on their last adventure when he passed on May 14, 2025. She attended First United Methodist Church of Edmond.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil "Spud" and Vera Hawkins; her beloved husband of 63 years, Wendell F. Cochran; and brother, Jerry Hawkins.
Gwen is survived by her sons, Michael Cochran and Chad Cochran; grandchildren, Cole Cochran, Bryton Cochran, Anna Bechtel, John Page, Chesney Cochran, Larissa Cochran and Courtney Taber; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Hawkins and his family; and sister-in-law, Glenda Hawkins and her family.
Visitation for both Wendell and Gwen will be Wednesday, June 4 from 9am to 8pm with family present from 4pm to 6pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. A Celebration of Life for Wendell and Gwen will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, June 5 at the First United Methodist Church of Edmond with interment in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery, Cherokee, Oklahoma
