Obituary

Grovaline (Fauss) Adams, 84, of Bethany, OK, began her eternal life on April 27, 2019. She was born to Grover and Pauline (Hamman) Fauss in Oklahoma City, OK. Grovy, as she was affectionately known, spent her early years in and around the Oklahoma City area. She married the love of her life, Gaylund Adams, on July 17, 1951, before he left to serve in the Korean Conflict. While Gay was serving his country, she graduated from Central High School in 1952. Upon his return, they settled in Bethany, and began raising a family. Grovy enjoyed music and sang in the ladies community group, The Color Tones, and her church choir. She served the Lord through her ministry at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene for many years as a Sunday School teacher, womens prison ministry volunteer and in many other ways. Grovy worked at the Western Oaks nursing home for many years, feeding the residents through her work in dietary services. Gay and Grovy loved to travel, both as a couple and with their four children. She loved exploring new places and meeting new people. She never met a stranger. She shared her love of knitting, crochet and tatting with anyone who was interested in learning. Upon Gays retirement from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in 1993, they started a new adventure, moving to St. Thomas in the American Virgin Islands. They enjoyed exploring the islands and hosted many friends and family members while there. Gay and Grovy returned to Bethany and lived out retirement in the best way possible, spending time together and taking care of each other. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 61 years, Gaylund Adams. She is survived by her brothers, Phil and Gary, and her sister-in-law, Mary Fauss; children, Laurie (Robert) Locke, Mindy (Don) Prince, Tom (Caryn) Adams and Tim (Margaret Ann) Adams; eight grandchildren: Courtney, Toby, Joshua, Bethany, McCall, Sam, Glen, and Emily; and four great-grandchildren: Kailen, McKinley, Eli and Kymree. The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital, especially Dr. Ross, Dr. Watson and the nursing team on 3AB, for their care and support. Many thanks to the teams at Southern Plaza and Eden Home Care for their love and care. Visitation will be held at Mercer-Adams on Tuesday, April 30, from 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm. Services will be held Wednesday, May 1, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
