Gloria Louise Hlinicky (Gick) passed away on February 23rd, 2021, peacefully in her sleep. Gloria was born to Howard and Louise Gick (Rendfrey) on April 7th, 1927, in Camden, New Jersey.
Gloria had two older brothers, Lambert Gick and Raymond Gick, an older sister, Dorothy, and a younger brother, Robert Gick. She grew up in Camden, attending Cramer Elementary school, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1945. Gloria was a "Jersey Girl" through and through and spent her teenage summer days at Wildwood on the Jersey Shore enjoying the usual teenage activities. She met her husband, Andre (Andy) Hlinicky, at a wedding through friends. He had a girlfriend at the time, but Gloria has always been a stubborn lady and eventually won his heart. They were married and lived in Camden until the late 1940s. They then moved to Dallas, Texas, for Andys work, where they had their first son, Wayne. A few years later, they had their second son, Steven. In 1952, when Steven was only a couple of months old, the Hlinicky family moved to Bethany, Oklahoma, for another job opportunity for Andy. Here the couple bought their forever home, a small three-bedroom one-bathroom house (little did they know how much of a mistake the one bathroom would be!). A few years later, they finally had the daughter Gloria had always hoped for, Linda. Years later, they had who Andy and Gloria called their "oops," their youngest son, David.
During World War 2, Gloria worked at the RCA factory located on the Delaware riverfront making radio tubes. Later, she worked at Curtis Publishing Company in downtown Philadelphia, just around the corner from Independence Hall. Gloria had a career as a secretary throughout her life and worked in food services for Putnam City Schools, where she retired at the young age of 90! Gloria enjoyed being with her family, word searches, shopping, and especially loved traveling! She always loved visiting Florida! Gloria lived a long and fulfilling life and was able to live independently nearly until the very end. Gloria was known for her humor, kindness, and her top-secret stuffing recipe.
Unfortunately, Gloria lost her husband on January 27th, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her older sister, Dorothy, her older brothers, Lambert and Raymond Gick, various friends, and her many family pets, including her beloved dachshund, Ginger. She is survived by her youngest brother, Robert Gick and wife Ann of New Jersey; her sons, Wayne and wife MaryJo of Guthrie, Steven of Oklahoma City, David and wife Karen of Jenks; and daughter, Linda of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Michael Hlinicky and wife Jennifer of Mustang, Cai Steger and wife Katie of New Jersey, Madisen Hlinicky of Edmond, and Samantha Hart and grandson-in-law James of Broken Arrow; great-grandchildren, Skylar (deceased), Jacob, Austin, and Kanyon Hlinicky of Mustang; several nieces and nephews in Oklahoma and New Jersey; and her Chihuahua, Chula.
