A note from the family: Dad had several talents -- one was his ability to find a bargain -- he never met a garage sale or going out of business sale he didn't like. Another talent was his sensitivity to the needs of others. He would tear up at the story of anyone in need -- and try to offer his help if possible. In addition, he had an uncanny abilty to think of 20 or more questions to ask everyone he met -- including his standard: What is your nationality When Dad valued something or someone -- he let everyone know -- through action and word. He valued education -- and he demonstrated this by hitchiking to a town away from his parent's home and finding a job in order to put himself through high school. He joined the Air Force, to serve his country -- and to also become a part of the G.I.bill so he could finish college. He was the first one in his family to graduate from college. He also valued working for a living. Even after he "officially" retired -- he was always looking for another job. He asked someone in the hospital just last week if they knew of any openings. The most important thing he valued was his family. He never let an opportunity go by to let us know that he loved us and that he was extremely proud us. He will be greatly missed -- but he left a legacy of love and pride that will comfort us for the rest of our lives.
