Gladys Ray Petty stepped into eternity with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 21, 2011. She was born November 22, 1921 in Maysville, OK. She was the oldest daughter to Donnie Mae (Melugin) and Jesse Hawkins. After graduating from Bridge Creek H.S. and moving to OKC, Gladys began her most treasured task of being a loyal wife and mother. When her daughters were grown, Gladys began a career with Sears, where she retired after nearly 25 years of service. She was a dedicated, hard worker and always had a pleasant disposition for every customer. A longtime member of The Baptist Temple, Gladys was a devoted teacher to the womens Cosmopolitan class. She took the studying of Gods Word very seriously and was always prepared. Among the many waiting to greet her in heaven were her parents, her baby brother, Merl, son-in-law, Doug Horton, and great-grandson, Caleb Brown. Gladys greatest joy was her family. Her absence will be felt most deeply by her daughters, Nancy Brown (son-in-law Ben) and Donna Horton; sisters, June Selby and Maxine Wood; grandchildren, Amy, Phillip and Monica, Graham and Lindsay, Holly and Philip, Lucy and Cole; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Anna, Camilla, Jack, Henry, Oliver, soon-to-be-born June and baby girls Jasmine and Jailyn. The family will greet friends Monday, July 25 from 6-8 pm at Mercer Adams Funeral Service, Bethany, OK. A celebration of Gladys' life will be at 10 am, Tuesday, July 26, at Mercer Adams Chapel with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, OK.
