Obituary

Gladys "JoAnna" Zemler Kohn went to be with her Savior on November 22, 2022 at the age of 86. She joined her parents, Joseph and Gladys Zemler; brothers, Martin, Aaron and Jimmy; sisters, Lillian Davis, Mary Tomlinson and Magdalena; and son-in law, Paul Pankalla. Born on September 17, 1936 in Salina, KS, Joanna was one of 9 children. She grew up in Salina and moved to Oklahoma City in 1960. She worked in the food service profession including Furrs Cafeteria for 20 years and then Deaconess Hospital until her retirement. JoAnna had a servants heart and loved to bake her cookies, pies and cakes for others. She crocheted and cross-stitched many blankets, tea towels, tablecloths and pillowcases to give as gifts from the heart. JoAnna attended Putnam City Baptist Church where she loved volunteering and her Sunday School Class. She always looked forward to playing games with her "Friday Night Ladies." JoAnna is survived by former spouse Mel Kohn and their five children, Gail, Rick and wife Patty, Ray and wife Cathy, Anita Pankalla, and Mike and wife Robin; grandchildren, Anthony Kohn, Cary Cox and husband Tommy, Acacia Lee, Rylee Cole and husband Andrew, Maris, and Josie Kohn; great-grandchildren, Eli, Kali, Sebastian, Makayla and soon-to-be-born baby girl Cole, as well as many nieces and nephews. Viewing at Mercer-Adams will be Monday, November 28, 9am-8pm with family present from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held at Putnam City Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 29 at 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma at www.dsaco.org. .
