Obituary

Gerald W. "Jerry" Pickerill, 83, died August 9, 2012. He was born April 17, 1929 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Howard and Myrtle (Bailey) Pickerill. He was a proud navy veteran of the Korean War and played in the US Navy Band while stationed in Washington, D.C. He graduated from John Brown University in Arkansas and went to work for General Dynamics in Connecticut where he was a mechanical engineer working on building and refurbishing nuclear submarines. Jerry later opened a piano and organ store in New London, CT where he had a flourishing business for several years. Jerry was a friendly, outgoing person and loved visiting various churches and denominations, most recently Love Street Ministries. He also enjoyed playing the piano. Survivors include his wife, Roberta Brockwell; his brother, Gary Pickerill; his half-sister, Dana Kretz; two sons, Jay and Joel Pickerill; and a daughter, Lynn Selfridge. He has six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Pickerill and mother, Myrtle Stanley. Jerry was laid to rest August 10, 2012 in Bethany Cemetery, Bethany, Oklahoma.
