Gerald Peter DeCelle was born July 1, 1932 in Chazy, NY and passed away December 20, 2017 @ Mercy Hospital in OKC. Following active duty in the United States Air Force, Jerry worked as an airplane mechanic in Ohio and central NY until becoming an Instructor @ East Coast Aerotech in Bedford, Mass. From 1969 until retiring 1996, Jerry worked for the Federal Aviation Administration initially as an Accident Investigator/Flight Standards & Safety Inspector to ultimately Program Developer/Instructor @ Mike Maroney Aeronautical Center in OKC. A devout Catholic, Jerry served in many capacities including Vincent St. Paul ministries, Eucharistic Minister during mass & to patients @ Deaconess & Baptist Hospitals & as a Stephen Minister. He was a long time member of the OKC Sportsmans Club and volunteer for the State Fair. He was a loyal Boston Red Sox, Bruins & Celtics fan and LOVED Christmas - winning many neighborhood light decorating contests! Probably his favorite past-time; however, was rooting for his children then grandchildren in every sport, dance or pom competition! Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather, and loyal friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Donna Lee; second wife, Jeanne (2005 2010); parents, Pete & Evelyn; brother, Matthew; and sister, Patricia Marshall. He is survived by daughters, Peggy Newman & husband Cyrus, OKC, & Kathy DeCelle & husband JT Jackson; sons, Bob DeCelle & wife Michelle, Bixby, OK, & Joseph DeCelle, Mesa, AZ; stepdaughter, Sara Martz & husband Ed; stepson, Paul Fenwick & husband John; grandchildren, David, Becca, Lizzy, Grant, Audrey, Eleanor, Mary, CJ, Hunter, Tanner, Zak great-grandchildren, Seamus & Killian. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic Charities. Mass of Christian Burial will be held @ 10:00 am Wednesday, December 27th @ St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
