Georgya Lee (Crawfish) St. John, 83, of Bethany, OK, beloved Mother, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2018 surrounded by her family.
She was born April 17, 1935 in Miami, OK, to Thomas E. and Edith L. (Warner) Crawfish.
Georgya was an accomplished horsewoman who began riding at the age of 3. She was a competitor in barrel racing and horse racing. Some of her fondest childhood memories were of her horses. She met her husband, Cyril (Sid) St. John when she was 27. They had 3 daughters together. She dedicated her remaining 56 years of her life to her children and animals.
She will be remembered for her tenacious spirit and mischievous smile. She was a wonderful cook and gardener. Her fried chicken was truly the best. Her flowers and garden brought much attention having garnered "yard of the month" recognition while living in Baxter Springs, KS. Her love for animals was known by all throughout her life. She had a wonderful way of connecting to any animal, especially those in need. She would often be seen walking her dogs and later, riding her scooter with her dogs walking beside her in her neighborhood until her illness this April. She was a great sports fan. Her favorite team was the OSU Cowboys and Coach Mike Gundy. She would be seen sporting the orange on every game day. She enjoyed all sports and could talk with anyone about the most recent action taking place especially regarding football. Besides being a horsewoman, she was an athlete. She set a state swim record in California and ran track while living there one year in high school. She loved going to the lake and the pools with her daughters to share the water with them. She greatly adored her grandchildren and cherished any time that she could be with them. She was a great supporter and enjoyed watching their activities. She treasured her time spent together as family. Her spirit will be greatly missed by all.
Georgya was preceded in death by her husband (Sid), parents, two infant siblings, Carolyn Sue and Thomas Warren, her grandparents Harry and Mary Crawfish and Frank and Jesse Warner.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Matthew) Floan, Regina St. John, and Barbara (Kenneth) Johnson. Also, she is survived by 5 grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Floan, Kathleen St. John and Thomas and William Johnson.
Graveside service will take place on Monday, Aug. 6, at 10 am at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma.
