Georgie Paulene Williamson, 90, passed away January 31, 2013. She was born August 17, 1922, in Miltonvale, KS to Almus C. and Lillie Mae (Simpson) Smith. She went to grade schools in Miltonvale and Minneapolis, KS, graduating from Banner school (near Anderson, MO) in 1939. She was converted and joined the Church of the Nazarene in Minneapolis, KS in 1931. After graduation from high school, she attended Joplin Business College, graduating in 1940. In 1942, she went to work for Christian Mutual Benevolent Assoc. in Carson City, NV. That year, she married Cloyd West, of the U.S. Navy. They were married 18 years. On May 31, 1974, she married Calvin Williamson. In her lifetime, she worked for several government agencies: Reno Army Air Force Base, McClellan Air Force Base, and a sub-division of Westinghouse in Kansas City. She also worked over seven years for Nazarene Publishing House. Her last employment was at Bethany City Hall. Thereafter, she assisted her husband as he did tree work and pastored small churches in KS, MO and OK. Georgie had three sisters, Maxie Clary of Bowling Green, KY (deceased 2004), Mildred Fenalson of Sartell, MN, and Aylo Williams of Centerville, MO. She has 5 children, Donna Irene Martin, Leah Christene Dryden, Shirley Sprecher, Ronald Williamson and Kenneth Williamson III; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Georgie insisted this be added, "The last 38 years with Calvin were the best years of my life." Viewing will be Sunday, 11am-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be held at 2:00pm on February 4, 2013 at Calvary Church of the Nazarene with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
