George Goodner, 83, died July 10, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born March 28, 1934 in Oklahoma City, OK to Roger Eugene and Hazel (Williams) Goodner. He married Ruthie Jean Gardner on November 1, 1953. She preceded him in death in 2016. He married Helen J. Wheeler on July 28, 1980. George served in the Marines and was also an NCAA Heavyweight Wrestling Champion for OU. He missed getting in the Olympics by two duels. George was a roofer by trade and an avid fisherman and hunter. He was active as a Gideon and loved playing cards and dominoes. George sang in the Sonshine Choir for several years back in the day. If food was involved, he was there.
Survivors include daughter, Stacey Malcomb-Hyatt and husband William of OKC, her children, Brandon, Cameron and Jordon Prince, Shayla and Micheala Malcomb, and their children, Vincent, Tidas and Zander Prince, Ana Laya, Asher and Malacki Malcomb; son, Jeff Goodner and wife Pamela of OKC, his children, Cory Goodner and Brianna Morehouse, and their children, Chance, Tessalynn, Cash, Timberlynn (deceased) and Tennesselynn Goodner; and daughter, Dietra Goodner of OKC, her daughter, Catelyn Goodner, and her children, Zachary and Reigna Baca; and son, Ramiro "Pablo" Alvarez. George also has one living sister, Patsy, and one living brother, Robert.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 13, 2:00pm at Portland Avenue Baptist Church, OKC.
