Obituary

George D. Goodner, 94, of Oklahoma City, passed away on May 13, 2024,

just three days before his 95th birthday.

Born in Idabel, Oklahoma, George attended high school in his hometown before pursuing his

education. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at El Paso. A proud

fan of the OSU Cowboys, he also spent time at Oklahoma State University.

George began his career in El Paso before relocating to Dallas and Arizona. His dedication and

expertise led him to transition careers, where he served many years with the Bureau of Indian

Affairs, leaving a lasting impact on the communities he served.

True to his nature, George's greatest passion was for his family. He traveled the world with his wife,

JoAnn, making friends everywhere they went. Always supportive, he encouraged his children and

grandchildren in all their endeavors, taking a genuine interest in their lives.

A devout member of his church, George found joy in serving wherever they lived. He proudly served

in the US Army as a surveyor and was awarded the Native American Korean War Veteran

Ambassador of Peace Medal in 2021. He took great pride in his Choctaw heritage.

George is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, JoAnn Goolsby Goodner; his daughters, Darla

Ures (John) and Vicki Caldwell (Gerald); four grandchildren, Zach Ures, Jake Ures (Betsy), Kelley

Brown (Drew), and Will Caldwell (Tiffany); and three great-grandchildren, Grace, Walker, and Annie Brown.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia and Esley; a granddaughter, Adrienne Ures;

his grandmother, Nancy Forbes Victor; his aunt, Wilma L. Victor;

and his uncles, Frank (Bob) Victor and Deb Victor, Sr. The Victors were all like second family to him.
