George R. Cooley, died on Sunday, January 29, 2023 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on January 15, 1934 in Macomb, OK to Vernie and Loree Cooley. He married the love of his life, Joy Roberts, on December 6, 1957. In 1998, he retired from Standard Life Insurance Company where he worked as a printer for 19 years. George was a proud veteran (SP3) of the U.S. Army. He also loved his time as an umpire for the National Amateur Softball Association and coaching his childrens sports teams. George was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lawrence Cooley; son, Robert Cooley; and son-in-law, Richard Valdez. Survivors include his wife, Joy, of 65 years; daughters, Linda Habel and husband John, and Sharon Valdez; grandsons, Jason Habel, Jesse Habel, and Justin Valdez; and his dog/napping buddy, Daisy. He will be greatly missed. Viewing will be Thursday, February 2 from 9am-8pm with family present from 3-7pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK.
