Obituary

George Stanley Ciupak, 92, born in Conemaugh, PA., January 24, 1922 and passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 after living a long and happy life. George was a devoted Catholic, father and patriot. George joined the US. Air Force (Army Air Corp.) after finishing high school in 1940. He started his military career at Langley AFB in Virginia where he trained to be an aircraft mechanic. He quickly completed his training to become an Aircraft Engineering Technical. During WWII he was station in Burma, India repairing aircraft returning from their missions and flying supply missions. After serving in the Air Force for 20 years at various locations in the US and abroad, he retired from active duty as a Master Sergeant in 1963. He continued to proudly serve his country as a reservist and a civilian at Tinker Field AFB where he worked as an Industrial Engineer Technician. After another 20 year career at Tinker he retired in 1983. George was also a supporter of the Boy Scouts and was a Scout Master for Troop 94, serving for long after his sons aged out of scouting. George was an active member St. Charles Borromeo and St. Patrick's Catholic Churches. He was also active in his community and enjoyed spending time at the local Senior Citizen Centers in Bethany and Warr Acres. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband and friend. He enjoyed making arts and crafts and giving them to family, friends and neighbors or anyone who wanted one. Collecting and repairing jewelry was by far his greatest hobby. George was always full of life. At age 92 he still continued to go dancing with his friends on Monday nights. He enjoyed playing card, talking about the good olde days and trying to give away all his trinkets He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Betty Ciupak, sons James and Thomas Ciupak, parents Stanley and Antonia Ciupak, brother Andy and sisters Stella, Julie, Mary and Gracie. Survivors include his children Stephen Ciupak and wife Carolyn, Frisco TX, Don Ciupak and wife Jan, Edmond OK, Karen Jackson and husband Robert, Santa Rosa, CA, Patti Jordan and husband Jeff, Tulsa OK, brother Victor Ciupak, sisters Loretta Ciupak, Florence Harchick, Gladys DiTullo, Gloria Kempisty and 14 grandchildren Kathy, Steve, Rebecca, Mary Elizabeth, Amanda, Daniel, Neil, Laura, Kelsey, Lacy, Mitchell, Meghan, Blake and Summer and 8 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers send donations to St. Vincent De Paul of OKC or Honor Flights Network in memory of George Ciupak. Visitation will begin Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 9am at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. A prayer vigil will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 7pm in Mercer-Adams Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 10am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with burial to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
