Obituary

George August Biggs, Jr. was born December 20, 1934, in Welda, Kansas, to George and Retta (Collins) Biggs. He graduated from Wayside High School in 1952. He then attended Bethany-Peniel College, where he met the love of his life, Marjorie Harrod. He worked through college (dishwasher in the dining hall, overnight dispatch for Bethany Police Department, and building airplanes at Wiley Post). He graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1956. Post-graduation, he married his sweetheart, Marjorie. Together, they devoted their lives to faithfully following God and serving others. They helped plant new churches, served as missionaries for 11 years at Caribbean Nazarene Theological College in Trinidad, West Indies, and then he taught at Southern Nazarene University until he retired in 2002 to care for his beloved wife. The doors of their home were always open to students at any time, day or night. Their lives exemplified Christ's compassionate character.

George was a man of many interests and a playful temperament. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and Field Naturalist's Club outings. His love for nature extended to butterfly collecting and even capturing squirrels, which he would release on campus after painting their tails green. He was ready to strike up a conversation with anyone he met and would always offer a dip of ice cream, a sliced mango, or his ever-present candy to visitors.

George was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie; sisters, Ruth Blome, Mary Brown and Martha Cauthen. He is survived by sons, Dan (Kendra) Biggs and John Biggs; daughter, Carol (Mason) Lawrence; grandchildren, Dana, Daniel, Jennifer, Rachel, David, Mark, Paul; and great-grandchildren, Josie, Jessica, Matthew, Thane, Isaiah, Maggie, Titus, Thaddaeus, Josiah, James, Asher and a future addition arriving soon.
