She met Joe Sherer, Jr, at Crown Drug, where she was a waitress. Two years later, they married on August 14, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church, El Reno, OK. They resided in Bethany, OK most of their lives, and had two children: Debbra Ann and Larry Joe Sherer. Like her father Truman, Chris had a talent for playing music especially on the piano and the organ, but she also could play the violin, guitar, accordion, and harmonica. Family members still remember Chris gathering family around the piano to sing. She was a fantastic cook. Once she made a 5 tiered German Chocolate Cake for her nieces Rainbow for Girls Installation. Like her mother Iva, she was an excellent seamstress. Chris deeply loved her immediate family of 8 brothers and 2 sisters, most of which have preceded her in death, including Hazel Crane, Lawrence, Floyd, Everett, Gene, Edward, Dean, and Carol Nichols.
