Obituary

Gavin Stephen King Born 11-18-10 Died on New Years Eve 2015 12-31-15 Survived by his Mother, Angela King, brother, Logan King, his sister, Addison King, Nana, Regina King, Poppi, Stephen King, Uncle, Eric King, Aunt, Jill King, cousins, Peyton, Kaylen, and Emerson King. Gavin was the sweetest little boy. From the very first moment he laid on my chest, I knew I never wanted to let him go. Gavin had a way about him that captured hearts of everyone he met. His laugh and smile was infectious. On my worst of days he would bring the joy around. He told jokes, danced, and sang. He loved Kidz Bop. "Counting Stars" was one of his favorite songs made popular by the artist Logan King, or at least that is what he thought. Logan was his role model and he wanted to do anything that he did. Gavin enjoyed singing "Jesus Love Me" and would sing it while doing other things he enjoyed like playing with play-doh. He is known for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just about everywhere he was known. Leonardo, the leader of the group was his favorite and I think that is fitting because he was often the leader of the pack in what he did. He had a little sister that he said "was a precious girl." He and Addison were best friends and only two and a half years apart. They were thick as thieves. They loved chasing each other up and down the hallway. She however was always taking his toys to get him to chase her. She told my mom yesterday that she lost her best friend. My mom could not believe her ears and said "who" and Addison said , "Gavin". He was diagnosed with brain cancer on February 5, 2015. He underwent surgery to clear that tumor out. The surgeon got it all. He went through radiation therapy until April 17th, 2015 and chemotherapy until this last month. He was given the all clear three and half months ago, but recently started having symptoms again. He always got along well with the chemo and did not have any poor side effects. So much so that the doctors said that he was skating through. His 5th birthday was in November followed by a wonderful return trip to OSU in Stillwater. He was the Special Spectator with Coaches VS Cancer back in September where he met all of the team and was held by Mason Rudolph. He was also able to go to Disney World back in June for Make-A-Wish. He lived life to the fullest. He was able to have a great Christmas. His headache began to increase intensity and frequency. I took him in on the 27th and they did an MRI on the 28th. The tumor had taken over all of his spine and brain. At that point we were told it was just a matter of days or weeks before he would pass. Mercy became the mission. He was in so much pain. He told me he loved me and a few minutes later he said that he wanted to go home. Later that day he asked for his blue blanket. That was the blanket I bought for him when he was born. We took him home with hospice on the 30th of December. I was able to have some communication with him as far as asking him if he needed anything or was in pain. He was able to let me know what he needed. He was unable to support himself at all and was so weak that I had to help him turn over as he struggled to do so. That night as we were sleeping, I opened my eyes which were facing him only to see that my very weak little boy was sitting facing me on his knees with no smile, no frown, or even labored breathing. His eyes were wide open as he starred at me with a knowing that I have never seen before. It was divine intervention that allowed Gavin to sit straight up in his bed and turn towards me. He was taking his last look at his mommy, saying goodbye in his own way. I went over to him for fear that he would fall over and laid him down on his side. I told him to rest and that I loved him. Moments later I looked at the same sight. It was an amazing gift to both of us from our Father in Heaven. I held him for about an hour while he took his final breaths and was ushered into the presence of the one that made him. I sang to him and told him I loved him. I told him to meet Jesus and to not be afraid. He was waiting there in Heaven. I told him over and over to rest and stop fighting. I held his blue blanket up to his face and rubbed it on his cheek and told him that Jesus was softer than this. Mom,Dad, Eric, Jill, Logan, and I were there. I was very blessed to be his mommy for five years. I will forever be his mommy and never forget all the wonderful memories he gave me. With great anticipation of Heaven, Angela King Funeral Service Monday, January 4, 2016 02:00 PM Mercer-Adams Chapel 3925 N. Asbury Bethany, OK 73008
