Gary was born April 2, 1939 in Wellington, Kansas. He passed away to be with our Lord and Savior on April 28, 2015, after his fight with cancer. He grew up in Wellington and attended the University of Kansas. He worked in the auto industry as Finance and General Manager until 2006. After retiring, he worked part-time at Mardel, Inc. Corporate Office as a purchasing agent, which he loved. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Vail and his mother, Marion (Whitley) Vail. Survivors include the love of his life - his wife of 54 years, Alvera; his 5 children, Elizabeth Gellenbeck and husband Mark, Alan Vail and wife Stephanie, Douglas Vail, Marsha Goodman and husband Bobby, Michael Vail and wife Qi (Ariel); his sister, Kay Bancroft and husband Larry; and brother, Ronald Whitley and wife Nancy. He was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Viewing will be held at Mercer-Adams on Sat., May 2, 12-9pm, and Sun., May 3, 11am-3pm. Vigil will be at Epiphany Catholic Church, 7336 W. Britton Rd., OKC, on Sunday, May 3, 5:00pm.
