Obituary

Gary W. O'Brien, 73, died March 26, 2012. He was born May 1, 1938 in Maywood, California to Ransom and Helen (Walton) O'Brien. He was an auto mechanic who enjoyed woodworking after retirement, making clocks, picture frames and other treasures. He was a race car driver, dirt-track racing in Enid before moving to pro-racing sports cars. After retirement, he had a sheet metal sharpening business, traveling around the country sharpening metal brakes and shears. He married Diana Lee Dean, August 23, 1961 in Lipscomb, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Susan Coonfield, Joann Prochaska and Nancy Kraft. Survivors include a son, Gary and daughter, Neta Bagwell, both of Oklahoma City; brother, Charles O'Brien of Gage, Oklahoma; and sister, Patricia Prochaska of Burnet, Texas. Viewing will be Wednesday, 9am-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 29, 2:30pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
