Gary Herdlitchka, 71, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 18, 2020. Gary was born to Eldrege and Hazel Herdlitchka in Humboldt, Nebraska. The family moved to Oklahoma City, where Gary spent most of his life. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School before attending the University of Central Oklahoma. Gary served honorably during the Vietnam War, earning several medals and the Air Force Commendation. After his service, Gary returned home and pursued his love of flying, working for many years at Downtown Air Park. He spent several years in Florida, working for the Hertz Corporation and traveling all over the country. After coming home to Oklahoma, Gary went to work for Shawver and Son Electrical Contracting Engineers, where he stayed until his retirement in 2018. He loved flying, sailing, history, and his dogs. Most of all, he loved being with his family. He is survived by his wife, Tina; his brother and sister-in-law, Lary and Georgia Herdlitchka; stepson, Richard Ferling, Jr; his niece, Kristi, her husband Michael, and their two daughters, Kaitlin and Maci Milligan; and his pride and joy, his three granddaughters, Caitlyn, Harmony and Serenity, whom he worshipped. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Donna. Gary will be laid to rest in a private family service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
