Obituary

Fred Avoyd Risinger, 99, died May 3, 2022 at the Norman Veterans Center. Fred was born December 4, 1922 in Spearsville, LA. Freds parents, Sally Neita Hollis Risinger and John Fred Risinger were caring, hard-working Christian parents. Growing up in the Great Depression period and then serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII, Fred knew hard times and hard labor. He grew up working in the fields alongside his father and helped raise livestock. In his working life, he was a painting contractor as well as a home builder. Fred met his future wife, Roberta, on a blind date when he was on leave from the service. Fred and Roberta were married in January, 1945 and celebrated 52 years together. Fred was preceded in death by Roberta in 1997 and son, Terry in 1967 at the age of 10. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laretha Gail Hester in 2005 and son-in-law, Joe Hester in 2009. Fred is survived by his son, Lannie Risinger and wife, Sue; daughter, Christy Lunow and husband, Kenny; grandchildren, Shawn Joseph Hester, Matt Risinger, Tiffany Keller, Cameron Lunow, Christian Lunow, Colton Lunow and Caitlin Lunow; and great-grandchildren, Harlow Hester, Shepherd Hester, Joslyn Keller, Kyden Keller, Madelyn Risinger and Preston Risinger. Viewing will be Friday, 1pm-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services for Fred will be conducted Saturday, May 7, 10:00 a.m. in the Mercer-Adams Chapel with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK. .
