Obituary

Frances Helen Pearl Holbird (Crockett) was born December 27, 1926 and passed peacefully and graciously (as she had lived) from this life on June 15, 2012 at the age of 85 years. She was born in Oklahoma City to George and Edith Crockett. She graduated from Central High School in 1944. She retired from Tinker Air Force Base. Helen earned her private pilot's license in 1979 and spent many years enjoying the friendship of other women pilots in the Ninety-Nines. She was also a valued member of the Oklahoma Pilots Association and the Civil Air Patrol. She loved to fly her Cessna and enjoyed taking many trips. She was also proud of her Chickasaw heritage and was the daughter of an original enrollee. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Roy Holbird, brother George Crockett and sister Joy Wade. She is survived by son Rory Lewellen, daughter Carole Whitlow (Randy), granddaughter Elizabeth Pickens (Mark, Jr.), grandson Robert Whitlow (Taylor), and two great-grandsons Tyler and Simon Pickens. She is also survived by devoted sisters Cordelia Crockett and Delores Crockett as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Helen had a generous and kind heart. She was a faithful member of Central Christian Church and, later in life, of Lakeside Assembly of God (Highpointe Church). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highpointe Church M&M's or to the Ninety-Nines. A memorial service will be held at Highpointe Church at 6810 N.W. 122nd on Thursday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m. Church Service Thursday, June 21, 2012 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Highpointe Church 6810 N.W. 122nd St. Oklahoma City, OK
